Clinical Practicum for Doctoral Students in Psychology

CABT offers a one-year practicum training experience for doctoral students in clinical psychology. Our goal is to provide training that covers every aspect of implementing evidenced-based treatments for anxiety disorders in a private practice setting. This includes training in:

  • Evidence-based, structured interviewing and assessment, including symptom-specific measures (e.g., YBOCS for OCD, CAPS for PTSD)

  • Exposure-based treatments for a wide range of anxiety and related disorders, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD

  • Critical aspects of service delivery in a private practice setting, including administrative tasks (e.g., managing your schedule, note writing, collecting fees) and functioning as an autonomous and independent provider

Each practicum student will receive 2 hours of weekly individual, face-to-face supervision (provided by two separate supervisors), as well as 1 hour of weekly group supervision, which includes case presentations, literature review, and lectures on special topics. Trainees also have the opportunity to attend CABT’s intensive training workshops (ERP for OCD, PE for PTSD) and observe CABT staff provide expert consultation.

Requirements

  • Advanced student (at least third-year) in a clinical psychology doctoral program

  • Solid foundation in CBT with a strong interest in exposure therapy and anxiety disorders

  • Available 16 hours per week including all day Thursdays
